How much does a travertine table cost?
Between a small round table and a large 240 cm table, the price of a travertine table can double. Here is what moves it, and how to compare two quotes at the same price.
What sets the price
Five factors weigh on the price of a travertine table:
- The dimensions : the larger the tabletop, the more it needs a flawless block of stone, and the more delicate the cutting and transport.
- The tabletop thickness : 2 cm is the usual thickness; 3 cm gives a more substantial tabletop, more rigid over long spans.
- The base : two stone blocks, a central pedestal, fluted stone or wood columns do not call for the same work.
- The finish : natural, semi-filled or fully filled (see our guide to finishes).
- Delivery and installation : a stone table often weighs more than 100 kg; getting it up into an apartment is real work.

How to compare two offers
At the same displayed price, two tables can cost very different amounts once they are in your home. Before comparing, check:
- Whether delivery is included, and how far it goes: to the foot of the building, or carried up and installed in the room?
- The real thickness of the tabletop : some tabletops look thick thanks to an edge glued at 45°, while the slab itself is thin. Ask for the thickness of the slab, not of the edge.
- The finish : an unfilled travertine is cheaper to produce, but more demanding day to day on a dining table.
- Lead time and follow-up : a piece made to order takes several weeks; ask for a written date and photos before it ships.
